Artist’s Statement:

A contemporary landscape painter, she depicts the silent beauty of trees in the forest. “There is nothing so strong as growing…Man can pattern it and change its variety and shape, but leave it for even a short time and it goes back to its own, swamping and swallowing man’s puny intentions.” Emily Carr

Her landscapes are collected world-wide and her art is proudly shown in art galleries in five cities located across Western Canada. Her love for the West Coast is where she derives her inspiration.

Container Art, PNE 2010, Set-up Week

From Mon. August 16 to Fri. August 20th the twelve containers at the PNE were the homes of artists installing their work.

Here are a few pictures of the experience; everyone was very enthusiastic and the atmosphere was vibrant and full of creativity. It was really great to meet my colleagues and see how vastly different we all treated the same problems.

The end result was an amazing array of art in a huge container city – a must see at the PNE!

Name of Installation: West Coast Forest of Great Trees

The 32 foot long painting has been a challenge & I have loved every minute of it! It is now in the PNE Container Art Exhibit and I am pleased with the final result, here are a few pictures from the studio during its’ development.

It’s official, I just received word my proposal was accepted for the 2010 PNE Container Art Exhibit. I am very excited to be a part of this amazing experience! I will be documenting my work as I go and will share it with you.

The Auxiliary to BC Children’s Hospital supports the areas of greatest need at the hospital by funding vital programs and services essential to providing the absolute best in pediatric care to the children of British Columbia.

Volunteers of the Auxiliary to the BC Children’s Hospital continue to serve our patients and families with a multitude of skills, dedication and compassion. Volunteers are involved in every level of a family’s experience at the hospital.

Volunteers provide hands-on support to parents and children throughout the hospital in the outpatient clinics, inpatient wards and through support to siblings and family members. The number of clinics continues to increase and volunteers are increasingly needed to provide support to families who struggle with days filled with appointments.

Portside Studios Open House Event

On Friday, June 11th from 6-10pm and Saturday, June 12th from 1-6pm we opened our studio spaces and invited the public in. As this was my first event and I have never participated in the Eastside Cultural Crawl, I did not know what to expect BUT it was amazing!!! So many of my friends and supporters came it was overwhelming and also inspiring to see so much support for what I do. Thank you everyone for your kind words of encouragement and for coming to see my work space.

Part of the Eastside Cultural Crawl the Portside Studio is located on the corner of Powell and McLean Drive (one block east of Clark). The 901 Artists Co-op is the first in B.C. to obtain a legal studio space featuring an open studio concept.
